Ride to Masinagudi, Tamilnadu

Soulful voice of Lucky Ali on my Ipod fills my body. Our bullet sound was breaking the silence of the Forest and we were driving our way to Masinagudi.

It was perfect time of the day to enjoy the early sun with cold breeze as we started from Bangalore on our scheduled time around 5 am.

Bangalore – Mysore- Bandipur-Masinagudi (265 km)

As we enter the Madumalai Forest the sky gets even more beautiful with puffy clouds. An obsessive feelings hit my mind grabbing at the clouds which were like light piles of cotton and i removed the ear plug and enjoyed the fresh air above my face. Passerby trees standing alone says: My strength is trust. The moment was so alive and i was enjoying my first long bullet ride .

Those days in 2011 , i was working in a Telecom software company.Holiday was more likely a stress buster for me.

We stayed at  “Bamboo Banks Resort” which is said to be the first resort of South-India starting in the year of 1974.

There is not much activity to do nearby except some jungle safari and elephant rides at Mudumalai .There is no pre-booking for that and you have to walk down to Madumalai Theppakadu reception in between 3.30 pm to 5 pm to get tickets. (Morning 6.30am to 8.30 am).A 20 minute ride from our resort.

We decided to go for Elephant safari in the evening after a cosmopolitan buffet in the tranquility of the farm.Cheese tart was outstanding .The Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary also a declared Tiger Reserve shares its boundaries with the states of Karnataka and Kerala. The sanctuary is divided into five ranges – Masinagudi, Thepakadu, Mudumalai, Kargudi and Nellakota.

We enjoyed our elephant safari and soon moved back to resort.

Evening mood was set up with a bone-fire arrangement and some chilled beer.I stuck to hot toddy drink. It was quite chilled and another couple who were on their road trip joined us.Soon Mrs.Shahanaz joined our gossip with many interesting stories ,How his father who started the resort had entered the heart of wilderness and spot exotic wildlife amidst. The smell of forest to me was unmistakable that time. The star filled sky floors me every single time I see it. Sometimes the moon was pepping from behind dark clouds.

The very next day i woke up little early and went for a walk nearby .Birds were chirping , sun light gradually making it’s way down through thousand of plants. The morning golden light morphed on my face finally, it was so relaxing making me alive.

we returned back to Bangalore after a heavy breakfast. It was the most majestic and memorable experience that i will probably ever have.Spending a night in the woods is a way to give your soul a refreshing environment which is more restful than most of us are used to.
