My happiness became doubled when I was accompanied by a bowl of hot jack-fruit fritters & a glass of nimbu-chai.

Mom insisted on including me, setting me to clean a ripe Jack-fruit for the very first time.And I tap on my shoulder with a proud feeling when successfully cleaned that big fruit with her .yeah !!

The fruit which is rich in fiber & antioxidants has thorny projections outside and soft flesh inside. A good source of potassium that improves bone and skin health.

I am sharing the recipe of fritters which are not too sweet. It’s a very good seasonal snack relished at any time of a day. The natural flavor of Jackfruit brings sweetness to the dish.

There are different varieties of Jackfruit. The sweetness varies. You may increase the jaggery quantity in the recipe. Jaggery can be replaced by Sugar. Try this Ripe Fritters Recipe for sure.

The seeds of Jackfruit are used in cooking. Once you take out the pulp, rinse them well. Dry with a kitchen towel. Let it dry in the sun for a day or two. Once it is dried, remove the outer skin of the seed.

You can store them for a few days at room temperature. My Mom makes Chutney using them which has a smoky flavor. She also adds to Ghanta (Mix vegetables Curry), a traditional dish of Odisha. Next time when you eat Ripe Jackfruit, do not throw the seed 🙂

  1. Mix all except water.Keep aside an hour to ferment.
  2. Check the consistency of batter. If you feel it's tight, add 1 tbsp water first.Add 1 tbsp more if u need.
  3. The consistency should not be runny or too hard ,it should be in-between.
  4. Heat oil in a Shallow Kadhai.Drop small portion of batter in it & fry at medium flame till they are a light golden color. Serve warm or cold.
