Fried Fish in Banana Leaf / Karimeen pollichathu

Instructions
  1. Make a paste of 2 tsp black pepper powder, lemon juice ,1 tsp turmeric powder ,1 tsp red-chili powder and garlic paste. Marinate fish with rubbing the paste on it for 15 minutes.
  2. In a pan heat 2 tbsp coconut oil and shallow fry marinated whole fishes. Take it out and keep them aside on a plate.
  3. In the same pan heat 2 tbsp coconut oil and add mustard seed. Add curry leaves and let the mustard seed sputter.
  4. Add chopped onion and shallot onions together. Fry for a minute. Add chopped garlic, chopped green chilies and cook on medium flame until onions are translucent.
  5. Add chopped Tomato.
  6. Add coriander powder, chili powder ,turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and cook for another minute.
  7. Add tamarind pulp and jaggery to it.
  8. Cook for a minute. Add chopped coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
  9. Take a banana fresh leaf ( triple the size of fish ) and grease the leaf with Coconut oil.. Take half of the prepared masala and coat one fish both side. Wrap this fish with banana leaf. Tie with a thread.
  10. Heat a pan. Add 1/2 tbsp coconut oil .Place the wrapped fish and cook on low flame for 7 minutes covering the lid. Turn the other side in between. Do the same with other fried fish. Serve hot.
