Rajasthan Diary – Osian ,Jodhpur (Day 3)

New year morning was so refreshing at Bishnoi Village ,Jodhpur .It was calm and peaceful spreading it’s own colors and charm.

As I stepped out the cottage door, I noticed the morning was more brighter with absence of fog. we wanted to cling on to winter sun for as long as we possibly can.It was so soothing soaking up the sun 🙂

Breakfast was hot Aloo Parathan (Indian Flat fried bread stuffed with spicy potato paste) with pickle followed by masala tea.

By 9.30 AM we started our drive to Osian Sachiya Mata Temple , built in 9th century C.E. Osian being an ancient town of Jodhpur is an oasis in Thar Desert. The crowd at temple was little more that day because of new-year. After some shopping near the temple where you can find very good Rajasthani Masalas and variety of ker(berries) and sangri(dried beans) ,our two friend joined us .And we four went to Thar Resort which was around 3 km away from the temple.

Camp-Thar Resort

As we entered the main entrace of that huge resort ,we were warmly greeted by a Folk singer who started singing

“Kesariya Balam Aaonee..Padharonee Mare Des Rey” along the tune of  his harmonium . 🙂

By the time our lunch was getting ready we thought of going for a Camel Riding ..But to me it was more like an adventure tour and i was only able to realize when it started walking…two meters up and two meters down for a jerky saunter. Pheww….

you have to be careful as its not at all a smooth journey . A new experience on new-year day.

Lunch was rich Marwar food ending with moong ka halwa at the resort.

We were back to bishnoi village resort by evening and diner was again typical delicious rajasthani food.  Bajre ki Roti(Millet flour bread), ker-sangri (berry & beans curry), potato-onion curry(rajasthani special) ,spicy garlic chutney and jaggery with ghee .Along that Sugnaram’s music soothing our soul. Truly lavish !!

To be continued….Stay tuned 🙂
